Typical January eCampus upgrade delayed until May by discovery of glitch

Information Technology Services will delay the next software upgrade of the eCampus system until the end of the spring semester in May because our teams have discovered a problem with the product.

We identified a major bug that Blackboard company cannot correct in time for us to test their solution and deploy it with confidence in January.

eCampus fix appears to be holding; system performance is stable

ITS teams have been monitoring eCampus throughout the day and have seen no problems with system performance. We believe the disabling of the Qwickly feature has resolved the slowness we were experiencing, so we will keep it turned off until further notice. 

Qwickly has provided a fix for the bug in their system. However, ITS will need time to test before we deploy it. We will let you know when we are ready to reactivate that feature. Among other things, Qwickly lets instructors send messages to multiple courses simultaneously. Faculty can still send messages to students through their courses in eCampus without this feature.

Instructors and students:

We have disabled the Qwickly feature in eCampus as we try to determine what is causing the system slowness this morning. An error message associated with Qwickly has been showing up early on the days we’ve had problems, and this is an attempt to determine if there is a correlation. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we continue to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of the sluggish performance.
